Youth Community Connections
Do you know of a student who may be at high RISK of:
- Group violence, targeted, engaged or at risk of engaging in gang activity/organized crime
- More susceptible to coercion or manipulation by peers or others
- Disconnected from their school
- Probation, criminal charges, or involved in the legal system
- Mental health concerns
- Youth in care, group homes or foster home
- Being exploited or trafficked for a financial gain at a sexual and emotional cost
- Substance use
- Intimate partner violence or mental and/or emotional abuse
Working collaboratively with various organizations and services, the Youth Community Connections Manager will help identify high risk students, and support them and their families where needed, and decide it they are a good fit for this program.
Connecting students with local services holds a wealth of positives for their education, mental health and well-being. Giving them a sense of belonging, our communities can truly enrich the educational experience for a positive outcome.
Therefore, this wrap-around approach, working with the student and their families and their support worker or people who know them best, will encourage them to achieve their goal to reconnect them back into school and giving them the skills and knowledge needed for later in life.
Youth are referred to the Youth Community Connections Manager by schools, community agencies, or families.
