Indigenous Art Show - Parkside Gallery
Penny Reid put countless hours in making sure each one of our students crafted a entry for our school's Indigenous Art Show, which is proudly on display at the Parkside Art Gallery for the month of June. Each class learned about and participated in a different art project inspired by First Nations culture and heritage. Ms. Davidson honored the project in a virtual art gallery for everyone to enjoy and can be viewed by clicking the link above.
A celebration of Indigenous culture and creative talent!
Deer Hide Project with Irene Charley
Irene Charley, with the help of Becca Stagg and our students, participated in the steps and process of tanning a deer hide. Great job everyone!
The Golden Shoe
Our Cross Country Running team participated in the races hosted by Forest Grove Elementary. The sportsmanship and participation of 100+ students representing 100 Mile Elementary was AMAZING! It was heartwarming to see smiles on student faces and on the many parents out to cheer on all the kids.
Congratulations Runners - our team effort earned us the Golden Shoe!!
Chainsaw Carver
We had a special guest on Nov. 17th at 100 Mile Elementary. Dean Gilpin is of First Nations ancestry and has worked for Pioneer Log Homes in Williams Lake for 15+ years. Kids were enthralled with his talent and the ease and speed of which he created his sculptures. He delighted students and staff with his amazing chainsaw creations in Western Red Cedar. His message " You can do anything you put your mind to " inspired us all.
